A cleaner, more reliable approach to MV switching

The HP-ELS series replaces SF₆ with environmentally friendly insulating media while keeping the proven safety and performance utilities expect from gas-insulated switchgear.

Insulating Medium

Dry air or nitrogen: Dry air or nitrogen replaces SF₆ as the insulating medium — eco-friendly, avoiding SF₆ emissions and the switchgear faults caused by reduced insulation and arc-quenching performance from SF₆ liquefaction.

C4/C5 synthetic gas with CO₂: Selected eco-gas models use this mixture, delivering insulation performance equal or close to SF₆ while meeting the switchgear's dielectric requirements.

Structural Design

Fully-sealed welded enclosure: Generally built from stainless-steel plate and fully seam-welded, with a high protection degree up to IP67 that effectively isolates dust and moisture to protect internal components.

Independent gas-tank structure: Medium-voltage components sit inside a fully enclosed stainless-steel gas tank, shielded from small animals, corrosive gases, humidity, dust and sunlight, improving insulation stability.

Reasonable layout: Busbar module on top, three-position isolation/earthing unit in the middle, breaker/load-break unit at the bottom; the cable chamber offers ample space for parallel cables and extra surge arresters, with plugs at the same height for parallel installation.

Core Components

Vacuum interrupter: Small contact gap, short arcing time, slight burn-off when breaking fault current, low operating energy and fast action; compact, light, low-maintenance, fire- and explosion-resistant and quiet — an ideal replacement for oil and SF₆ breakers.

Three-position isolation/earthing switch: Isolation, earthing and open positions deliver circuit isolation and earthing protection, working with the breaker to control and protect the circuit.

Safety Protection

Pressure-relief device: A rupture disc in the relief channel at the bottom of the sealed enclosure bursts under an internal arcing fault to release pressure, venting hot gas into the trench to protect operators and equipment.

Five-prevention interlocking: A complete five-prevention structure complies with safety codes — preventing mis-closing/opening of breakers, switching isolators under load, earthing in live condition, closing with earth applied, and entry into live compartments; clear status indication guides correct operation.

Intelligence

Reserved intelligent interfaces and sensor-mounting positions; once fitted with smart devices, the switchgear meets smart-grid requirements — enabling remote monitoring, fault diagnosis and condition-based maintenance to improve grid efficiency and reliability.
